Enzo Ferrari founded Scuderia Ferrari in Modena in 1929 to enter amateur drivers in races. For its first years the team ran Alfa Romeos, acting as Alfa's racing department from 1933, and the first true Ferraris came only around 1940; the Tipo 125 raced at the 1948 Italian Grand Prix. The company moved to Maranello in 1943, but the script on the flank of this transporter still reads Ferrari Automobili, Modena, Italia, above the prancing horse.

The diorama imagines the transporter and its cargo left to rot in a yard. The red paint is scabbed with rust and mud, a corroded crane leans over the cab, and Dunlop, Magneti Marelli and Shell decals still show on the bodywork. A yellow sports racer numbered 21 sits on the upper deck. Around the truck lie the shells of more racing cars in red, yellow and white, numbered 10, 18, 20, 22, 34, 43 and 120, several without wheels and propped on timber. The red 10 has P. Rodriguez and Mexico lettered on its body, and the yellow 43 carries a rally plate. Loose tyres and wire wheels, a Texaco pump, an engine hoist and a red Ferrari Automobili sign are scattered over grey ground grown through with yellow lichen, on a stepped black base.
