Ferrari unveiled the LaFerrari at Geneva in 2013 and built 499. Behind the cabin, a 6.3-litre V12 gives 800 PS at 9,000 rpm, and the HY-KERS electric unit adds 163 PS, for 963 PS and 900 Nm combined. Rory Byrne, who designed Ferrari's championship-winning Formula 1 cars of the early 2000s, designed its carbon fibre monocoque, and the styling came from the Ferrari Styling Centre under Flavio Manzoni. With no input from Pininfarina, it was the first Ferrari since the 1973 Dino 308 GT4 without Pininfarina bodywork or styling. A 500th coupé, sold by RM Sotheby's in December 2016, raised US$7 million for earthquake relief.
This one is finished in matte black under a gloss black roof, with thin gloss red lines tracing the bonnet and the long sweep along each flank, and red edging on the splitter. A red band runs up the nose beneath the Ferrari shield, carrying the gold stars of the Chinese flag, and a small Chinese flag is applied where the front wing meets the door. The five-spoke wheels are gloss black over yellow calipers, carbon fibre forms the front splitter and the diffuser around the four tailpipes, and the cabin is red and black. Its red-stitched white leather base carries a plaque that sets out the engine figures beside the Ferrari and LaFerrari names and reads Limited, one of 5. The model is built at 1:18.
