Ferrari unveiled the Daytona SP3 on 20 November 2021 as the next car in its Icona series, after the Monza SP1 and SP2. The name looks back to the 1967 24 Hours of Daytona, where Ferrari finished first, second and third, and the design draws on the 330 P4 that won that race; Ferrari marked the launch with two 330 P4s and a 412 P lapping Mugello together. Underneath is the chassis of the LaFerrari Aperta, and behind the cabin a naturally aspirated 6.5-litre V12 gives 840 PS at 9,250 rpm. It is a targa with a removable roof, and its butterfly doors open upwards. Ferrari planned 599 and sold all of them before production began.
The model is painted a deep metallic red over a carbon lower body, with the horizontal louvres across the tail and the front wings sharply cut. The butterfly doors open on seats trimmed in bright blue, with Ferrari shields on the harness pads and a black steering wheel stitched in blue, and the rear clamshell lifts to show the V12 with its silver intake plenum and Prancing Horse. Silver five-spoke wheels carry yellow Ferrari centre badges over black calipers, and a Ferrari Daytona SP3 plate sits at the tail. It stands on a carbon-topped base with Amalgam's plaque at the front. Amalgam builds it at 1:8, more than 58 cm long.
