Ferrari's 458 Spider arrived at Frankfurt in 2011 with what Ferrari called a first for a mid-rear-engined sports car: a folding aluminium hard top, 25 kg lighter than a fabric roof, that opens or closes in 14 seconds. Liberty Walk, the Nagoya company Wataru Kato founded in 1993, made the 458 one of its best-known conversions, and took a widebody 458 Italia to the SEMA show in 2013. The approach is to bolt on much wider arches, drop the car almost to the ground and add a deep splitter, side skirts and a tall rear wing. This model's plaque calls it the LB-Works GT.
The paint shifts colour with the angle of view, from teal along the flanks to violet across the nose, tail and diffuser, and the carbon on the wing, splitter and diffuser is tinted to match. LBWK lettering runs along the doors and across the bonnet, and the tail carries Liberty Walk script above the triple tailpipes. The wheels are five-spoke Forgiato rims on Advan tyres. Inside, white leather is stitched in pale blue, with Prancing Horses on the headrests and the colour-shift carbon carried onto the dashboard and steering wheel. It is photographed with the roof both open and closed. The etched plaque on the white leather base reads Limited, one of 12. Davis & Giovanni builds it at 1:18.
