Ferrari showed the 458 Italia at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009 as the successor to the F430. Its 4,497 cc V8 was the first direct-injection engine in a mid-engined Ferrari road car, making 570 PS at 9,000 rpm through a seven-speed Getrag dual-clutch gearbox, the only transmission offered. Donato Coco led the design at the Ferrari Styling Centre, working with Pininfarina. Small winglets in the front grille were made to deform at speed, shrinking the radiator intakes to cut drag, and Michael Schumacher gave input on the cabin, where the steering wheel took over controls usually found on the dashboard or on stalks. The 458 stayed in production until 2015, when the 488 GTB took its place.
This one is finished in Viola Mica, a metallic purple, under a gloss black roof. The wheels are black five-spoke designs with yellow brake calipers behind them, the nose carries the slim grille and the long swept headlamps, and the tail shows the 458 Italia script above the three exhausts grouped in the centre. The car sits on a black leather base edged with red stitching, with a plaque at the front that names the model and reads Edizione Limitata. BBR builds it at 1:43.
