Ferrari unveiled the 458 Italia at the 2009 Frankfurt Motor Show. Pininfarina designed the body under Donato Coco, Ferrari's design director at the time, and Michael Schumacher's input shaped the cabin, notably a steering wheel that carries controls usually found on stalks or the dashboard. Small winglets in the front grille deform at speed to cut drag. The 4.5-litre V8 used direct injection, a first for a mid-engined Ferrari road car, and made 570 PS with a 9,000 rpm redline. It drove through a seven-speed Getrag dual-clutch gearbox, the only transmission offered, and the car stayed in production until 2015, when the 488 GTB replaced it.

BBR's 1:43 model is finished in F1 2007 red, a bright solid red, with gloss black five-spoke wheels and red calipers. The rear shows the 458 Italia badge and the three central exhaust tips, and the black mesh vents sit either side of the tail. The car sits on a red leather plinth with stitched edges, and a black plaque on the base carries the 458 Italia name and the words Edizione Limitata with a piece number. BBR builds it at 1:43.
