Ferrari built the 288 GTO to go racing in Group B, then watched the category collapse before the car could turn a competitive lap. What survived was rarer than a racing car: a small run of road-going homologation specials, the first Ferrari to carry the GTO name since the 250. Twin turbochargers, a V8 turned to sit lengthways behind the driver, Kevlar and composite over a tubular frame. This is the bloodline that runs straight on to the F40.
Here it is rendered in miniature and finished to the standard the marque keeps for its own collection. The panel gaps, the depth of the Rosso lacquer, the lattice of the engine bay and the set of the wheels are taken from the original drawings rather than approximated. A piece made to be looked at closely.
