The 250 LM moved Ferrari's GT car to a new layout. It began as the 250 P, the open prototype that won Le Mans in 1963, given a roof: the Colombo V12 sat behind the driver in a tubular spaceframe, with double wishbones at each corner. Shown at the Paris Salon in October 1963, it was meant to replace the front-engined 250 GTO in GT racing, but the FIA refused to homologate it, and it had to race as a prototype instead. From the second car onwards it used a 3.3-litre V12, rated at 320bhp at 7,500rpm and driving a five-speed gearbox. Ferrari built 32, all of them sold to private teams, and in 1965 one of them won Le Mans outright.

Martisan's painted rolling chassis lays that layout bare. The grey tube cage runs over a black lower frame and sketches the berlinetta's nose, cabin and tail; the V12 sits behind the seats with six twin-choke carburettors under polished trumpets, one cylinder bank left open on its piston crowns. Riveted aluminium tanks run alongside, the gearbox sits between the rear wheels, and red coil-over dampers, wishbones and fine-spoked wire wheels fill each corner. In the cockpit are tubular seat frames, the pedals, a gated shifter and a red-rimmed wheel. Martisan offers its 250 LM chassis both painted and in bare brass; this is the painted version, built at 1:18.
