Not every GTO went straight to a works or privateer racing team. Chassis 3869GT was delivered in October 1962 to Colonel Ronnie Hoare's Maranello Concessionaires, Ferrari's importer in Britain, which showed it on its stand at the London Motor Show that autumn. In 1963 it was bought by the gentleman driver Ron Fry, who campaigned it hard in British club events through 1963 and 1964, taking GT class and outright wins at sprints and hillclimbs across the West Country, among them Wiscombe Park, Dyrham Park, Yeovilton and Castle Combe. The next owner raced it only briefly, and the car was retired from competition at the end of the 1965 season. Fry went on to campaign a 250 LM in the same events.
The model presents the car without race numbers or number plates, in plain red with Scuderia Ferrari shields on the front wings and a right-hand-drive cockpit with blue seats. Quick-release catches and a leather strap hold the bonnet, which lifts to the V12 and its six twin-choke Webers; the doors carry sliding windows and the boot holds a spare wire wheel. Harnesses, a wood-rimmed wheel and a full dashboard fill the cockpit, and the Borrani wire wheels have removable centre-lock nuts. CMC builds it at 1:18 as a hand-assembled metal precision model, in a limited edition of 2,000.
