Chevrolet unveiled the C8 Corvette Stingray on 18 July 2019 at a media event in Tustin, California, timed to the 50th anniversary of Apollo 11. It was the first Corvette with its engine behind the driver, ending the front mid-engine layout of the previous seven generations. The 6.2-litre LT2 V8 was first rated at 490 hp and drove through a Tremec eight-speed dual-clutch gearbox, with no manual offered. Production at Bowling Green, Kentucky, was due to begin in late 2019, but the 2019 GM strike held it up until 3 February 2020.
The paint is Fighter Grey, a flat light grey, under Liberty Walk's L.B. Street Force livery: star-and-bar roundels on the doors and nose, the number 05, ADVAN and Liberty Walk lettering, red triangle decals and eagle emblems on the wing endplates, with L.B. STREET FORCE across the tail above a LIBERTY WALK plate. The wide overfenders, deep splitter, tall rear wing and black diffuser with four tailpipes are all in place, and the black six-spoke wheels show bronze calipers. It stands on a white base with a black plaque naming the LB Corvette C8. It is built at 1:18.
