Car Graphic was founded in Tokyo in 1962 by Shotaro Kobayashi and grew into Japan's leading monthly car magazine. This is issue 76, published on 1 May 1968, and its cover lines read like a digest of that spring's motoring: the Geneva show, the Tasman Series, the All Japan Fuji 300 km race and the build-up to the Japanese Grand Prix. The 1968 Tasman Series, raced in New Zealand and Australia, went to Jim Clark in a Lotus 49T. It was his third Tasman title and the last championship he won before his death at Hockenheim on 7 April 1968.

The cover is a Ferrari cockpit photographed close: a wood-rimmed three-spoke wheel with the yellow prancing-horse boss, set against a wood-veneered dashboard of Veglia instruments, the speedometer reading to 300 km/h. The pink masthead pairs CAR with the title in Japanese script, with the month number 5 printed large beside it, and the small print gives the issue as No. 76, May 1968. The copy shows its age honestly, with a toned cover, rubbed edges and wear along the spine, as expected of a well-read magazine of almost sixty years. The text is in Japanese.
