Bugatti W16 Mistral, La Perle Rare

La Perle Rare is a real car: a one-off W16 Mistral created by Bugatti's Sur Mesure department and made public in February 2026. The commission began at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in August 2023, when the client met Jascha Straub, Bugatti's manager of Sur Mesure and individualisation. Taking inspiration from pearls and from the marque's hand-painted Vagues de Lumière finish, the team developed two bespoke colours (a gold-infused tone across the upper body and a warm white beneath), divided by gold-and-white linework that took hundreds of hours of hand-masking and painting. The name appears in Straub's handwriting, stitched along the centre tunnel and painted beneath the rear wing.

The model follows the commission closely: warm white below, pale metallic gold above, the two divided by sweeping gold-and-white lines along the flanks and over the rear haunches, with pale wheels and a white cabin. The red X of the tail lamps and the BUGATTI lettering in the rear grille provide the strongest colour against the pale bodywork, beneath the raised wing. It is presented on a black suede-finish base with white contrast stitching, its nameplate carrying the Bugatti macaron, the Mistral script and a piece number from an edition of 30.
