Bugatti W16 Mistral, Golden Era

Bugatti revealed the W16 Mistral at The Quail, A Motorsports Gathering, during Monterey Car Week in August 2022, and it had already sold all 99 examples, at €5 million net apiece. The car was billed as the ultimate roadster and the last model to carry the W16, in this case the 1,600 PS version first used in the Chiron Super Sport 300+. The launch car was finished in a warm black with hints of truffle brown and subtle yellow accents, and its lines drew on the 1934 Type 57 Roadster Grand Raid: twin scoops rising behind the seats where the Grand Raid had its aerodynamic headrests, and a windscreen that wraps round like a visor.

In the colourway H&H names Golden Era, this example sets a lustrous metallic gold over exposed black carbon at the splitter, sills and rear, with a small tricolore on the sill and two-tone silver-and-black wheels. The cabin is trimmed in tan and black, and the red X of the tail lamps and the BUGATTI lettering in the rear grille read crisply beneath the raised wing. The roadster rests on a black suede-finish base with white contrast stitching, its nameplate carrying the Bugatti macaron, the Mistral script and its number in an edition of 30. H&H builds it at 1:18.
