Of all the details Bugatti built into the W16 Mistral, one reaches furthest back. Set into the gear selector, beside a touch of wood, is an amber insert holding Rembrandt Bugatti's dancing elephant, the sculpture by Ettore's brother that once adorned the bonnet of the Type 41 Royale. The door panels are lined in intricate woven leather. It is the level of craft the Mistral's buyers expected: all 99 were sold, at €5 million net each, before the car was revealed at Monterey Car Week in August 2022 as the last model built around the quad-turbo W16, here in its 1,600 PS form.
This example pairs a deep brown, through which a carbon weave shows faintly across the bonnet, with a rose-gold lower body that runs from the splitter along the sills to the rear, matched by rose-gold wheels. The cabin is trimmed in tan, the red macaron sits on the dark mesh of the horseshoe grille, and the red X of the tail lamps cuts across the brown beneath the raised wing. The roadster is presented on a white suede-finish base edged with stitching, its nameplate carrying the Bugatti macaron, the Mistral script and its number in an edition of 30. H&H builds it at 1:18.
