On 9 November 2024 Andy Wallace drove a W16 Mistral to 453.91 km/h at the ATP Automotive Testing Papenburg track in Germany, a speed confirmed by SGS-TÜV Saar as a world record for an open-top car. It beat the 408.84 km/h set by the Veyron 16.4 Grand Sport Vitesse with its roof down. The run used a one-off record car rather than one of the 99 production cars. Each of those uses the 1,600 PS quad-turbo W16, which Bugatti said would be the engine's last appearance in a road car, and the Mistral draws engine air through two scoops on the roof just behind the occupants, with the oil cooler intakes kept on the sides.

This example is in a bright mid blue with bare carbon on the lower body, sills, splitter and diffuser, and the French tricolore on each sill. The cabin is dark, and the two roof scoops rise from the carbon deck behind the seats. The wheels are dark multi-spoke designs, and the rear carries the X-shaped light signature, the Bugatti name across the tail and the Mistral script. It sits on a navy leather base with pale blue stitching and a Mistral nameplate. MR Collection builds it in resin at 1:18.
