Bugatti designed the Vision Gran Turismo for the Gran Turismo PlayStation series, created by Polyphony Digital, and then built it as a real carbon-fibre show car, unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2015. Achim Anscheidt led the design team, with Frank Heyl, Sasha Selipanov and Etienne Salome. The show car wore the two-tone blue of the Type 57 G Tank that won Le Mans in 1937. Its centre fin comes from the 1936 Type 57 Atlantic: the one along the roof aids stability and houses the mechanism for the rear wing, which works as an air brake and a drag reduction system. The eight-eye headlamps double as intakes that cool the brakes, and the design was a precursor to the Chiron.
This one swaps the show car's blues for a deep metallic red, with bare carbon on the splitter, the sills, a strip down the bonnet and the rear bodywork. A 16 sits on the carbon inside the horseshoe grille. The silver multi-spoke wheels wear Michelin tyres, with red calipers behind, and the tall rear wing is carried on fins that rise from the rear wings. Four round exhausts sit in a row at the centre of the tail above the diffuser. It stands on a black suede base with white stitching and its plaque at the front. H&H builds it at 1:18.
