Three of the four Type 57SC Atlantics have worn black. Chassis 57453, completed in October 1936 with its supercharger fitted at the factory, became known as La Voiture Noire; its last trace is a shipping list from 1941, and it has never been found. Chassis 57473, black when new, was destroyed in a collision with a train near Gien in 1955 and rebuilt after a long restoration. Chassis 57591 left the factory in sapphire blue for Richard B. Pope in 1938, and Ralph Lauren had it painted black after buying it in 1988; it was Best of Show at Pebble Beach in 1990 and at Villa d'Este in 2013. All of them share Jean Bugatti's teardrop body with its riveted dorsal seam and the 3.3-litre supercharged straight-eight.

This model is finished in deep gloss black, with the riveted seam running from the bonnet over the roof to the tail. The doors open on tan leather, with wood cappings and a wood-rimmed four-spoke wheel ahead of the dials, and the bonnet sides lift to show the engine bay and its polished fittings. The red Bugatti oval sits on the chrome horseshoe grille, the headlamps have ribbed lenses behind chrome rims, and plates reading 9219 NV2 are fitted front and rear. It stands on a black leather-grain base with the maker's plaque at the front. Amalgam builds it at 1:8.
