Under the international scheme of the period, Hungary's racing cars were meant to run white at the front and green at the rear, with red numbers. CMC's Hungarian Type 35 takes the fuller route and wears the red, white and green of the national tricolour: red over the bonnet, white along the flanks and a green chassis beneath. The country's leading Grand Prix driver of the era was László Hartmann, who bought a Type 35B from Count Tivadar Zichy in 1929 and raced Bugattis in the early 1930s, from AVUS in 1931 to Monaco in 1933. The car he bought had made its name from the 1924 Grand Prix de Lyon onwards: a 2-litre overhead-cam straight-eight in a slender body, riding on cast alloy wheels.

This example sets itself apart from the factory-fresh cars in the series with an applied weathered finish: grime and dust across the paintwork, dulled tyres, a tarnished bonnet and engine bay, and a taped, well-worn steering wheel. Beneath the patina the detail is all there: the louvred bonnet opens on the plumbed straight-eight with its brass carburettors, the spare is strapped to the flank in leather, and the number 43 sits in the radiator mesh and on the bonnet. CMC's standard Hungary edition was limited to 300 pieces, built at 1:18 from more than 930 parts. This example is a bespoke 1 of 1, weathered to look race-worn and made in Germany.
