BMW GINA Light Visionary Model, Purple

Open a door on most cars and a panel swings on its hinges. Open one on the GINA and the body itself changes shape. Each door is covered by the same continuous sheet of fabric that wraps the nose, so as it rises upwards and outwards the skin bunches into creases along the flank, then pulls taut again the moment it shuts. The rear spoiler works the same trick in reverse: invisible at rest, it lifts automatically once a set speed is reached, raising the fabric to put extra downforce on the rear axle. Nothing about the shape is permanent; it is simply the form the car holds until something asks it to change.

Purple metallic, deep and saturated, with a bright flake that flashes violet in the highlights, gives this example real presence, and the orange interior makes a bold contrast: orange seats, door cards and steering-wheel rim against grey trim and stacked round dials. The open headlamps, twin kidney grilles, split-spoke wheels and paired tailpipes in a carbon-weave diffuser are crisply finished, and the BMW roundel sits on the rear deck.
