By September 1933 Alfa Romeo had stepped back from racing and released its Tipo B monopostos to Scuderia Ferrari, and the prancing-horse shield went on the bonnet. At Monza on 10 September Luigi Fagioli and Louis Chiron drove them against Tazio Nuvolari, now in a Maserati, and the Italian Grand Prix became a running fight, the lead changing again and again as each of them stopped for attention, until Nuvolari, in front, had a rear tyre fail two laps from the end. Fagioli set the fastest lap and won by about 40 seconds from Nuvolari. The same day, on the banked oval at Monza, the Monza Grand Prix claimed the lives of Giuseppe Campari, Baconin Borzacchini and Stanislas Czaykowski.

This example carries an applied race-worn patina. The red is flattened and freckled with dust, the cream #12 on the cowl worn through in places, the yellow Scuderia Ferrari shield standing out on the bonnet side, and the grille, chassis rails and exhaust darkened with grime; the tyres are dusty grey. Beneath it the mechanical detail is intact: the louvred bonnet opens on both sides to the twin-supercharged straight-eight with its red leads, and the wood-rimmed wheel and leather seat are aged to match. The base model is CMC's M-226, a limited edition of 1,000, built at 1:18. This example is a bespoke 1 of 1, weathered to look race-worn and made in Germany.
