porsche-ks-r-green-runner-1-18
Porsche KS-R, Green

On the 911 Turbo of the 1970s and 1980s a single turbocharger sat tucked away beneath the rear bumper, and Porsche did not put two on a production 911 until the 993 Turbo of 1995. The KS-R, drawn by the designer Khyzyl Saleem on the body of an impact-bumper 911, takes the opposite view of what should be hidden. It has two turbochargers and no rear bumper at all, so the hardware that would normally live out of sight becomes part of the design, framed below a red light bar and a long flat wing. Everything else follows from that: wide flared arches, a deep front bumper with a full-width grille and a stance pressed close to the ground.

This one is painted a vivid, glossy green that makes the black details stand out sharply: the carbon panels ahead of the rear wheels, the window frames, the slim mirrors and the black mesh-pattern wheels, with red calipers behind the spokes. From behind, the two turbochargers sit either side of the engine with their green air filters and polished exhaust outlets, beneath the PORSCHE lettering in the light bar and a red louvred screen over the rear window. It stands on a white leather base with red stitching, and its plaque, carrying the Runner logo, reads Limited Edition, one of 30. Runner builds it at 1:18.
