nilu27-black-silver-01-motorhelix-1-18
NILU27, Black & Silver #01

At a time when most new hypercars lean on batteries and turbochargers, NILU went the other way, and said so plainly: electric power has no place in its car. The NILU27 is built around a naturally aspirated 6.5 litre V12, developed with Hartley Engines of New Zealand, and a seven-speed manual gearbox, all carried in a carbon fibre monocoque with aluminium alloy tubular subframes. Its designer, Sasha Selipanov, had previously worked on the Lamborghini Huracán, the Bugatti Chiron and the Koenigsegg Gemera. Inside, the steering wheel has no switches at all, the haptic controls are machined from solid metal, and the rear-view camera is built into the mirror. The car made its public debut at Pebble Beach on 15 August 2024.

This MotorHelix model is gloss black with broad silver stripes sweeping back from the front wings over the doors, a large white 01 on the nose and on the rear flanks, and a small 27 on each door. Silver five-spoke wheels match the stripes. The open rear deck shows the V12 with red detailing among its pipework, a gold-toned panel lies beneath the rear wing, and the three exhaust outlets sit high in the centre. It stands on a black leather base, and the plaque, with the MH mark and the nilu name, reads Limited Edition, one of 49. MotorHelix builds it at 1:18.
