Mercedes brought four W125s, Rudolf Uhlenhaut's answer to the flexing W25: a frame of oval steel tubes, coil springs at the front, a de Dion axle at the rear and a supercharged 5.66-litre straight-eight of close to 600 hp in race trim. Manfred von Brauchitsch put #3 on pole and set the fastest lap, and fought Bernd Rosemeyer's Auto Union for the lead until a tyre failed at over 100 mph and he had to limp to the pits. He still finished second, 37.5 seconds behind Rosemeyer, with Rudolf Caracciola third. It was the W125's last race, at the end of the season in which Caracciola became European champion.

CMC's model carries von Brauchitsch's red #3 on the nose, flanks and tail. The louvred bonnet comes away completely, held by spring-loaded hooks and a leather strap, to show the straight-eight; the grille is built by hand from stainless-steel wire. The wire wheels, with aluminium rims and stainless spokes, are removable and reveal drum brakes with cooling slots, and the cockpit has a textile-covered seat, a wood-rimmed wheel and a stainless dashboard with a marbled finish. A limited edition of 1,000 pieces; CMC builds it at 1:18, from more than 900 parts.
