Donington was no smooth autodrome. The Leicestershire circuit was bumpy, with a crest where the cars left the ground, and on Starkey's Straight the German cars were reported at 170 mph. The battering told on Lang's car: a broken front shock absorber upset its handling, von Brauchitsch went by, and after 26 laps Lang retired. Bernd Rosemeyer won for Auto Union. For the W125 it was the last race, at the end of a season in which it won six of the twelve races it entered and Mercedes drivers filled the top four places in the European Championship.

This CMC model carries Lang's red #2 on the nose, sides and tail. The louvred bonnet lifts off completely, held by spring-loaded hooks and a leather strap, to reveal the eight-cylinder engine, and the radiator grille is built from stainless-steel wire. The wire wheels, with aluminium rims and stainless spokes, come off to show the detailed drum brakes. Inside, the seat is covered in real textile, the wheel has a wooden rim and a green Mercedes boss, and the stainless dashboard has a marbled finish. A limited edition of 1,000 pieces; CMC builds it at 1:18, from more than 900 parts.
