It went on sale with the roadster in March 1961, at first for export only, with the 3.8-litre XK six on three SU carburettors. Jaguar claimed 150 mph, although the test cars that reached it wore racing tyres. In October 1964 the six was enlarged to 4.2 litres, keeping the claimed 265 bhp but gaining about 18 per cent more torque, and a 2+2 coupé joined the range in 1966. The glass headlamp covers mark this car as a Series 1.

This one is finished in a pale bronze metallic, with a tan interior visible through the glass. Chrome frames the windscreen and side windows, the wire wheels have eared knock-off spinners, and the tailgate carries Jaguar script above the slim split bumper, with twin exhausts in the centre. It is shown on a black gloss plinth, raised on posts, and built at 1:18.
