Work began in June 1986 and the car was revealed at the Civic Centre in Maranello on 21 July 1987. Pietro Camardella drew the body at Pininfarina under the supervision of Aldo Brovarone, and to save weight its panels were made of Kevlar, carbon fibre and aluminium, with polycarbonate for the windscreen and windows. The cabin had no carpets, no door handles and no sound system. Every F40 left the factory in Rosso Corsa, and between 1,311 and 1,315 were built.

This model gives that shape a pale turquoise blue that no F40 wore when new, and pairs it with a white cabin: white bucket seats with red harnesses, a white three-spoke wheel with the prancing horse at its centre, and a white dashboard and instrument binnacle, all set against carbon weave on the door panels, sills and floor. The split-rim five-spoke wheels are silver, and the twin-turbo V8 sits under the slatted rear cover. It stands on a white leather base with red stitching, whose plaque lists the 2,936 cc engine, 471 bhp and five-speed manual gearbox and gives the edition as 26 pieces. It is built at 1:18.
