Ferrari moved the fuel from Vittorio Jano's side panniers into a tank behind the driver and ran the exhausts through the faired-in sides. At Reims on 1 July 1956, Peter Collins, in his first season with the team, started third and won the French Grand Prix by three-tenths of a second from his team-mate Eugenio Castellotti after 61 laps. It was his second World Championship win in a row, a month after his first at Spa.

The model is the short-nose car Collins drove at Reims, in red with white #14 on the nose, flanks and tail and Scuderia Ferrari shields. The engine cover lifts off and locks back on to expose the V8 and its pipework, the bundled four-pipe exhausts exit ahead of the rear wheels, and there is a flip-open vent for the driver's footwell. Metal suspension with a De Dion rear tube, an oil cooler ahead of the radiator, hinged fuel and oil fillers, a leather-covered seat and a wood-rimmed wheel are all reproduced, and the wire wheels with stainless-steel spokes wear Englebert Competizione tyres. CMC builds it at 1:18 as a hand-assembled metal precision model of 1,161 parts, in a limited edition of 1,500.
