On 14 April 1929 Antony Noghès's new street race drew sixteen invited starters, and William Grover-Williams, entered simply as 'W. Williams', brought his Type 35B home after 100 laps, 1 minute 17.8 seconds ahead of Georges Bouriano, having beaten the favourite, Rudolf Caracciola's Mercedes, on pit-stop strategy. Monaco's own Louis Chiron missed the race to run at Indianapolis. The Type 35 was five years old by then, first seen at the Grand Prix de Lyon in 1924, and still the car to beat on a tight circuit.

CMC's Monaco car is white over a broad red band, with a black 16 on the bonnet sides, the tail and the radiator mesh. The detail runs deep: wire-locked bonnet fasteners, a leather strap across the bonnet, Englebert tyres on eight-spoke alloy wheels with integral drums, and the spare carried on the flank in leather straps. The louvred bonnet lifts on a fully plumbed straight-eight with brass carburettors and copper lines. CMC builds it at 1:18 from more than 930 parts, in a limited edition of 500.
