When the Kamm coupé retired after seven laps, the race rested on the Touring Coupé of Fritz Huschke von Hanstein and Walter Bäumer. Von Hanstein was so set on winning that he kept putting off the agreed change of driver until, shortly before the finish, he stopped on the open road and handed the wheel to Bäumer, who took the car across the line a quarter of an hour clear of the second-placed Alfa Romeo. With the roadsters third, fifth and sixth, BMW took the team prize as well. The 2006 Mille Miglia Concept, a one-off on Z4 M Coupé running gear, is the company's tribute to that day.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis example is finished in a bright silver metallic with a lively, coarse sparkle, recalling the fine silver of the real concept.
